Diamonds are a girls best friend

The French were bred to die for love
They delight in fighting duels
But I prefer a man who lives
And gives expensive jewels
A kiss on the hand may be quite continental
But diamonds are a girl's best friend
A kiss may be grand but it won't pay the rental
On your humble flat, or help you at the automat
Men grow cold as girls grow old
And we all lose our charms in the end
But square cut or pear shaped
These rocks don't lose their shape
Diamonds are a girl's best friend

Tiffany's, Cartier
Talk to me, Harry, Winston, tell me all about it
There may come a time when a lass needs a lawyer
But diamonds are a girl's best friend

There may come a time when a hard boiled employer
Thinks your awful nice
But get that ice or else no dice
He's your guy when stocks are high
But beware when the start to descend
It's then that those louses go back to their spouses
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
I've heard of affairs that are strictly platonic
But diamonds are a girl's best friend
And I think affairs that you must keep liaisonic
Are better bets if little pets get big baggettes
Time rolls on and youth is gone
And you can't straighten up when you bend
But stiff back or stiff knees
You stand straight at Tiffany's

Diamonds
Diamonds
I don't mean rhinestones
But Diamonds
Are A Girl's Best Friend

Sugar, Sugar Lyrics

Sugar, ah, honey, honey
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you
Honey, ah, sugar, sugar
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you

I just can't believe the loveliness of loving you
(I just can't believe it's true)
I just can't believe the one to love this feeling to
(I just can't believe it's true)

Ah, sugar, ah, honey, honey
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you
Honey, ah, sugar, sugar
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you

When I kissed you, girl, I knew how sweet a kiss could be
(I know how sweet a kiss can be)
Like the summer sunshine pour your sweetness over me
(Pour your sweetness over me)

Sugar, pour a little sugar on it, honey
Pour a little sugar on it, baby
I'm gonna make your life so sweet, yeah yeah yeah!
Pour a little sugar on it oh, yeah!
Pour a little sugar on it, honey
Pour a little sugar on it, baby
I'm gonna make your life so sweet, yeah yeah yeah!
Pour a little sugar on it, honey!

Sugar, ah, honey, honey
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you
Honey, ah, sugar sugar
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you

Sugar, ah, honey, honey
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you
Honey, ah, sugar sugar
You are my candy girl
And you've got me wanting you

Free Love Poem

From Me

If you see a sunset, it's me, smiling
From behind it.
If I go away far, and you see a star
If you find it,
I'm inside it.
You can fold it, and hold it forever,
If you hide it.
If our words and worlds sever -- if ever
I lose you;
If two thousand light-years or seven
Confuse you;
Remember me. Here and in Heaven
I'll see you.
I'll be beguiling my filing, still smiling
To see you.
When mountains, magenta and molded
Turn red,
Like you said,
You'll find the feeling you folded
Not dead.
You'll steal the swirling sky, turning
With me.
You won't be bounded, but burning
And free.

A Crease in the Sheets

A crease in the sheets
Looked just like your feet,
But I knew you had left.
So I straightened the bed.
Half-hoping to find
You were lying inside.

I imagined you'd say
That you'd got off the plane
You'd decided to stay.
Or that maybe, you'd say
That you'd had to return,
Or that someone had learned
That you shouldn't have gone.
But my image was wrong.

It was only the sheets.
It wasn't your feet.

Free War Poem

I Do Not Hate My Enemy

I do not hate my enemy.
He fights for all his children free.

'Tis why we choose to go to war
My child is what I'm fighting for.

We both fight for our liberty
To see our children strong and free.

'Tis really a strange twist of fate
that sees our love turned into hate.

It is lessen I must give,
I want my child, my child to live.

For now I fight, I fight my fiend
Another life, you'd be my friend.

Free War Poem

I cry in fear,
I scream with hate.
What gave us all
This ugly fate?

To meet upon
The battle field,
Where all must fight,
And none can yield.

I do not want
To do whats right.
I want to kill.
I want to fight.

My brother died.
I loved him dear.
You took from me
Those who were near.

I cannot end
Or stop this war.
I need to fight;
Settle the score.

A Wedding Is the Entrance to a Marriage

A wedding is the entrance to a marriage:
One drives through, and suddenly one's there!
Stepping from a fairy tale carriage
Into quite ordinary air.
Life is now a dance, though beautiful,
Requiring intense coordination;
Each self becomes, in ways inscrutable,
More fully what it is in combination.
And we who love you wait, of course, outside
As you become through love that mystery:
One flesh made whole of separate groom and bride;
Two selves, one life; two notes, one harmony.
When you are one, we then may cherish two:
Loving not just one, but both of you.

A Wedding Is a Party

A wedding is a party with,
Of course, a wedding cake.
But sometimes by the time it comes,
It's hard to stay awake.
People need to talk a lot,
And laugh and joke and kiss,
And cry - why do they cry? - and mention
God and love and bliss.

Two people have decided that
They'll share one house for life,
And call themselves, instead of friends,
A husband and a wife.

And so we have to get dressed up,
And eat a lot, and wait
For hours till they finally serve
The great big wedding cake.

STAY FOR A WHILE

STAY FOR A WHILE
By Amy Grant

Long time since I've seen your smile
But when I close my eyes
I remember
You were no more than a child
But then so was I
Young and tender

Time carries on
I guess it always will
But deep inside my heart
Time stands still

Stay for awhile
Well, it's good to see your smile
And I love your company
Stay for awhile
And remember the days gone by
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be

Snowfalls, phone calls, broken hearts
Clear summer days, warm and lazy
Long walks, long talks, after dark
We vowed we'd never forget
Now it's hazy

Time takes its toll
And time alters our view
It would be nice to
Spend some time with you

Stay for awhile
Well, it's good to see your smile
And I love your company
Stay for awhile
And remember the days gone by
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be

How Long More?

It pains me to hear you say goodbye
Sending off to another what is yours by your right
I watch your awkward stride, carrying your ailing hunched back
To lock the gates as he walk towards the steps

Oh God, hasten Your work of reconciliation
Grant me grace to wait with patience
Give them courage to follow your wisdom
So as to claim your full-bloomed salvation

My hope is in You to make all things new
Give a fresh start from deep within their hearts
Do what only You are able to do
You are my hope and all that is true
